What types of insulation and power generation is covered by the Green Deal?

The question we get asked most often is ‘what is going to be covered in the Green Deal?’ So let us take a few moments and look at what will be covered in the up-coming Green Deal.

The way the Department for the Environment and Climate Change (DECC) are currently talking about the ‘things’ covered is by referring to them as ‘measures’. So from here on we will too. The DECC has split the measures into different areas, some will be more relevant to commercial properties and some to residential properties:

Heating, ventilation and Air conditioning:

Condensing boilers
Heating controls
Under-floor heating
Heat recovery systems
Mechanical ventilation (non-domestic)
Flue gas recovery devices

 Building fabric Cavity wall insulation:

Loft insulation
Flat roof insulation
Internal wall insulation
External wall insulation
Draught proofing
Floor insulation
Heating system insulation (cylinder, pipes)
Energy efficient glazing and doors

Lighting

Lighting fittings
Lighting controls

Water heating

Innovative hot water systems
Water efficient taps and showers

Microgeneration

Ground and air source heat pumps
Solar thermal
Solar PV
Biomass boilers
Micro-CHP (Combined Heat and Power)

This is the most up to date list at present, there is a possibility for other measures to be added in the future. Some things to note are ‘innovative hot water systems’ bit vague we feel and we are trying to get some clarification on this one.

What would you like to see on the list? Or if you have any questions, please leave a comment below.
