The Secret of Saving 80% on Your Lighting Bills…
Lighting control is going to be included as part of the Green Deal. This will be for both domestic and more importantly for business consumers. But let’s not overlook the lights themselves; lighting technology has evolved rapidly over the past few years and there are ways to drastically reduce your energy bills today.
Lighting comes in many forms such as Tungsten, Fluorescent, Halogen and LED. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages. Tungsten is currently being phased out as it’s expensive to run producing only around 15 lumen unit of light per watt and is short lived, lasting only around 1000hrs. Halogen is a good option, the light is bright and crisp plus the bulbs are inexpensive. But Halogen has the same constraints of the Tungsten producing low volumes of light per watt. Low Energy Fluorescent has started to fill the gap. It’s much better at producing light at around 50-60 lumen per watt, but the lighting effect is often disappointing which has adverse effects and is also unfriendly to the environment.
The last option is the LED (Light Emitting Diode) which has been around for the last 50 years, quite understated at first but as recently as the last 10 years has become a serious solution to lighting. Historically this has failed to provide the light levels to replace the 50w Halogens and Tungsten bulbs. However, the newer SMD (Surface Mounted Diode) LEDs are starting to approach the lumen levels we have come to expect from a bulb, but these generally available on our shop shelves are still only reaching around 300-400 lumen per bulb, when a 50w Halogen reach 750+lumen. Still a disappointing comparison. So moving on….
COB LED are proud to bringing the newest and most efficient Chip On Board (COB) LEDs to the UK market, with our new Sirius Range. The Sirius Range uses the best components and design to enable this extensive range of bulb types to produce between 100 to 120 lumen per watt.
Our 6w GU10 Bulb can produce the same light output of a 50w Halogen. Meaning a massive saving of 80% in energy consumption each time you switch on your light. Which is a saving we could all do with in these difficult times? Of course the technology behind the product does mean the initial cost of a bulb is more expensive than its lesser alternatives but, you must consider the following facts carefully. The life span of the COB Sirius Range extends to around 50000 hours which is a huge contrast to the first ever bulb of 14 hours or 1000hrs for todays Halogen or Tungsten bulbs.
Our calculations demonstrate that the initial cost of one of our bulbs will be paid back to you in energy saving and long life within 1400 to 2000 hours of running time in a normal household. We also estimate they will have paid for themselves within 4 months in commercial premises. So what other investment do you know would give a 100% return in the first year and the next dozen or so years.
