The Green Deal Orb and the Green Deal Ombudsman
When things go wrong with your Green Deal…
There are a couple of bodies that we should all be aware of before, during and after we have had a green deal assessment.
The Green Deal Orb
“The Green Deal Oversight and Registration Body (GD ORB), on behalf of the Secretary of State, manages the authorisation scheme for participants in the Green Deal and is responsible for a number of functions aimed at providing effective administration and oversight of the scheme.”
The website has all the companies that have passed the Green Deal accredited training. http://www.greendealorb.co.uk/
Before you engage with a Green Deal Assessor or provider make sure they are listed on the Green Deal Orbs database.
Green Deal Ombudsman
Another body that consumers should be aware of is the Green Deal Ombudsman service http://www.greendealorb.co.uk/
This body will deal with complaints when something goes wrong with your Green Deal plan. Contact the Ombudsman if you have any issues with any part of the Green Deal service.
We have had an EPC done which says that we do not need double glazing replaced even though the assessor commented on the draught coming through along with the daylight showing from the windows. Apparently Stroma software used by Green Deal assessors does not have the facility to differentiate between single glazing and poorly fitted double glazing that was fitted before 2002. Green Deal isn’t working for us!
What happens when a central heating boiler installed under the green deal needs replacing before the repayment time. I believe most boiler manufacturers give a 5 year guarantee
Most boiler manufactures have been in talks with Green Deal Providers and have extended their products guarantees some up to 10 years. So hopefully there will be protection for you in case of anything going wrong.
