Radiant Heating

Radiant Heating is a technology of heating either indoors or outdoors. Basically, radiant heating systems supply heat directly to the floor or to the panels in the wall/ ceiling of the house. The system depends mostly on the delivery of heat directly from the hot surface to the people and objects in the room via infrared radiation. When the radiant is located on the floor, it is often referred to underfloor heating.

Radiant heating is more efficient than baseboard heating and forced-air heating, because it reduces duct losses. Moreover, it doesn’t produce any allergens, which could be bad against people with allergies.

Hydronic systems are liquid based and use little electricity, which is beneficial for areas with high electricity prices. Gas or oil fired boilers, solar water heaters, or a combination of these sources can be used.

The radiant panels on the wall and ceiling are usually made of aluminium and heated through electricity or hot water. Most commonly, those radiant panels are heat electrically.

They have the quickest response time of any heating technology as well, because the panels can be controlled individually for each room. This results in huge energy and eventually money savings. Moreover, just set the thermostat to the minimum, as with any heating system, in order to prevent the pipes from freezing.
